Working with Same-Sex Parented Families - Training
Due to an overwhelming response to the guidelines launch and first round of training, we are pleased to announce an additional training date.

When: Wednesday 24th April, 2013

Training Program

9:30am-2:30pm

Jennifer Power and Henry von Doussa will facilitate an interactive session about attitudes toward difference and the ways in which service delivery can unintentionally be excluding of same-sex attracted clients or their families. Case studies will be used to explore how workplaces can build on the inclusive practices they currently undertake to create more positive experiences for same-sex parented families who access their services. The content of this training program has been informed by the facilitators' research with same-sex attracted parents as well as with service providers. Information about the findings from this research will be delivered as part of the session.

This training has been designed for clinical and non-clinical workers from a range of health and community settings. If you would like more information about the course content please contact Jennifer Power via email to Jennifer.power@latrobe.edu.au or phone 03 9385 5131.

Jennifer Power and Henry von Doussa are both researchers in the fields of sexuality and family studies. Prior to employment at the Bouverie Centre they both worked for the Australian Research Centre for Sex, Health and Society. Jennifer and Henry are also experienced at conducting training in working with same-sex parented families, having delivered similar training in various settings.
People attending the training are encouraged to attend the Guidelines launch beforehand as part of the session.
