Donor Human Milk in the American NICU: How it is used, parental perceptions and donor motivations
Dr Katherine Carroll is an Australian Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Health Communication at the University of Technology, Sydney.
She has a 3-year ARC grant to investigate the place of donor milk in the NICU and the broader tissue donation economy. She spent 8 months in the USA in two different NICUs and two human milk banks as part of her research. She also spent time at the Mercy Hospital Breast Milk Bank. This year Katherine received a grant that investigates the role of milk donation after neonatal death.
Her presentation will provide information on donor milk use in the NICU in Australia and the USA.
