The Confucius Institute invites you to the calligraphy demonstration by Mr. Hua Wen Xu.
Venue: Library foyer, La Trobe University, Melbourne campus
Chinese calligraphy, also known as brush calligraphy or “shūfǎ” (书法), is an ancient art form of China that is equally relevant in the modern era. A meditative practice that engages the body and mind, it requires an exacting blend of discipline and creativity.
A practice long admired beyond China's borders, Picasso once said if he had been born Chinese, he would have been a calligrapher, not a painter.
About Mr. Hua Wen Xu
Mr. Hua Wen Xu is a professional and experienced Chinese calligraphy and painting teacher. A graduate of the Chinese Institute of Classical Art in Shanghai, he has over twenty years experience as a Chinese calligraphist and over ten years experience as a teacher of Chinese calligraphy.
