Bokashi trial a hit with La Trobe International
Since the beginning of 2009 the La Trobe International (LTI) office has been composting their food scraps and other compostables using the Bokashi compost system. The Bokashi compost system uses a microbial feed that encourages waste breakdown. The fermentation caused by the waste breakdown creates a rich soil conditioner which can be watered down and used on the garden. One of the EnviroSMART representatives in LTI, Marina Eleftheriadis has organised for the remaining broken down matter to be taken home by fellow staff.
