Industry work placement
A major component of the Bachelor of Bioscience (Freshwater Ecology) is the compulsory placement of third year students in the workforce where they can experience actual management issues or relevant resource management research activities and contribute to the function of the host organisation.
The placement is for a minimum of 160 hours and includes two days a week (Thursday and Friday) for ten weeks during the second semester. The placement provides very practical experience for the students and enables them to work in the natural resource management field as part of their degree.
Students have commented on how important these placements are for future employment with some remaining with the host organisation.
