Scholarships

The Department of Electronic Engineering offers a number of scholarships to local undergraduate students commencing an undergraduate degree within the Department of Electronic Engineering as well as a scholarship for international postgraduate coursework students.

 

Undergraduate Scholarships

The Department of Electronic Engineering offers the following scholarships to local undergraduate students commencing an undergraduate degree within the Department of Electronic Engineering:

Dr. Wanda Henry Memorial Scholarship, $10,000

This five year scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding student, chosen for exceptional personal and academic qualities, as well as potential to make a significant contribution to their area of study and to university life in general. Applicants must be eligible to enrol in the first year of the Bachelor of Electronic Engineering/Master of Biomedical Engineering, or another five-year engineering course in the Department of Electronic Engineering.

This scholarship is awarded in memory of the late Dr. Wanda Henry. Dr. Henry was a lecturer in the Department of Electronic Engineering and was a distinguished researcher with an outstanding academic record.

Hooper Memorial Scholarship $2,000

This scholarship is awarded annually to an outstanding student, commencing any four or five year engineering course in the Department of Electronic Engineering.

Departmental Scholarships, $1,000

Departmental scholarships are awarded to commencing students studying an engineering course within the Department of Electronic Engineering.

 

Selection Criteria

In addition to eligibility criteria for individual scholarships, students must also meet the following selection criteria:

  • High overall performance in VCE (or equivalent) studies.
  • Demonstrated interest in a career in Electronic Engineering.
  • Good study skills and organisation and an ability to adapt to University life and make satisfactory academic progress.

It is desirable that the student has a keen interest in electronics.

 

Application Process

To apply for a scholarship offered by the Department of Electronic Engineering, please complete the scholarship application form (PDF 104KB) and include the requested information.

Applications close on the 30 November each year. Suitable applicants will be requested to attend an interview prior to the allocation of scholarships.

Successful applicants will be awarded a scholarship upon enrolment in the course. The scholarship is tenable only for a student enrolled full-time at La Trobe University and is subject to the recipient maintaining satisfactory academic progress and enrolled status at La Trobe University.
