17th Annual Hooper Student Project Presentations

The 17th Annual Hooper Memorial Engineering Student Project Presentation took place on the afternoon of Friday 4th December 2009. With Jim Royston gone, this year’s ceremony took a new format. The new format involved every student presenting both a short 5 minute oral presentation as well as a poster presentation. For the first time the Hooper oral presentations had to be moved from its home “The Hooper Lecture theatre” (due to its unavailability) to the SEMS meeting room. This year’s event also featured a new format for the handouts which were now glossy hand held booklets. Guests were also fascinated by the “Blast from the past” wall where group shots from past Hooper participants dating as far back as 1998 were posted up on the entrance door. Once again Electronic Engineering students showed off some brilliant projects while guests gazed with smiles on their faces. The overall satisfaction level was very high and we received back great feedback which will help us to keep improving this wonderful event. The Department of Electronic Engineering would like to thank EMCSI Pty Ltd, Future Fibre Technologies (FFT) Pty Ltd, the IEEE Victorian Section, Weller Soldering Tools, Soanar Plus, and Electronics News Magazine for their ongoing support and for contributing the awards given out to students.

We would also like to thank Jim Whittington and Eddie Custovic for organising this year’s ceremony.

Last but not least, we thank Jim Royston for being a great organiser of the Hooper awards for all those years and for still being very supportive of this even with his enthusiastic feedback.
