Photonic Workshop
Project 1: Audio through Photonics

An audio transmitter and receiver (with clear lids for the students to view) are set up to examine the difference between a laser diode and an LED. Music signal is sent through Optics.

Project 2: LED's Vs Laser diodes

Again, transmitters and receivers are set up to communicate. Cathode Ray Oscilloscopes are set up to examine signal output.

Cathode Ray Oscilloscope (CRO) Workshop

Mastering the basics:
This VCE laboratory exercise starts with a demonstration of DC and AC waveforms, which introduces the major oscilloscope controls. An optional video explains further what these controls do and also how the CRO works internally. The video is useful to those students who need to know how things work before they use them.

Transistor Biasing Workshop

Mastering the basics:
The aim of this experiment is to investigate DC biasing of a single transistor amplifier, to measure ß DC versus I C and to construct a simple amplifier. This class is useful in helping students understand core requirements of transistor knowledge.
