This course qualifies graduates to teach in primary schools in Victoria and other states of Australia, as well as many overseas countries.

The program is designed around the general theme of understanding, explaining and improving the practice of teaching and learning. Theory will arise out of, and be integrated with, practice wherever possible. Many activities will be conducted in small groups to create greater opportunities for participation.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must have a university degree acceptable to the Employment Assessment Unit of the Department of Education, Employment and Training in Victoria and appropriate tertiary study in subject areas suitable for teaching in secondary schools. Applicants wishing to do a LOTE method must have completed a third year advanced university course in their language or be able to provide evidence of equivalent ability.

Police record check
All students enrolling in the Graduate Diploma will be required to complete a Victorian Police `Consent To Check and Release Form'.

Application

Applications for Australian residents are made through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) using the standard VTAC application form. Duration

The course duration is 40 weeks, including 9 weeks of teaching practice, beginning in mid-February and running until mid-November. Semester breaks coincide with term breaks in primary schools. All classes are taught on campus during the day in Bundoora, some weekend and evening classes may be timetabled for the Shepparton course.
