Education Curriculum Laboratory (ECL)

Curriculum

Purpose of the ECL

The ECL collection provides access to quality resources in order to support, extend and enrich the teaching and experiences of staff and students. Our main goal is to keep abreast of the latest curriculum development in both primary and secondary education. The collection consists of books, journals and audio-visual materials. We support your teaching program to simulate you with new teaching ideas and strategies, lesson preparation ideas and classroom activities so that you can create for all students an environment that nurtures and enhances learning.

Where are we?

The Education Curriculum Laboratory (ECL) is located on level 1 of the School of Educational Studies (Education 1 Building) in room 109.

Hours of opening

The ECL is open from Monday to Friday. Hours vary once term begins and when practicum starts. Always check the front door for times and WEBCT for announcements of changes. During teaching practicum the ECL opens for a few hours on the weekend and late one night per week.

Borrowing

All resources can be borrowed from the library if you are an education student at LaTrobe University. Nearly all items can be borrowed for 14 days unless they are marked as 7 day loan only. A few are overnight only. All ECL must be returned to the ECL via the library chute next to the ELC door or directly to the loans deck. Items are NOT to be returned to the Borchardt Library.

Up to a combined maximum of 20 items can be borrowed from both th ECL and the Borchardt Library. You are able to borrow at one time only two 7 day and two one day loans.

Overdue items need to be returned to the loans desk and checked off the record before you can borrow again. Any fines incurred that total $10.00 or more must be paid at the Borchardt Library before borrowing at the ECL.

To renew items please refer to La Trobe Library for instructions.
