Practical experience
Students studying Outdoor and Environmental Education degrees at La Trobe will undertake practical experience in an array of outdoor education situations. The number of days varies depending on the course you enrol in.

Cost of practical experience
The University funds all transport and camping fees for compulsory practical trips as well as some major outdoor equipment items, such as canoes, climbing gear and snow tents.
Students will need to purchase their own essential personal outdoor equipment such as pack, sleeping bag, clothing, walking boots. They will also need to provide their own food for practical trips.

This list provides a guide to the equipment (WORD 47KB) students will need. New students will have the opportunity to learn more about equipment requirements at the Outdoor and Environmental Education Orientation Session in February 2012.
NOTE: It is recommended that students avoid purchasing any new gear prior to the course until they understand course requirements as outlined in the first few weeks of semester one.
