Brief profile
Greg Powell was a teacher and administrator with the Victorian Government School system for 30 years teaching in the northern and western suburbs of Melbourne and then later in country Victoria.
Greg was seconded as a Senior Project Officer to the Department of Education and Training (DE&T) Victoria in the eLearning Online Education Strategy Team (Later Years Branch) from 1999 to 2002 where he managed the National Software Evaluation Project for Australia (NSEP) and the Software Rolling Fund for Victorian Schools. During these years Greg managed the development of the QTP PD Bank website and various Sofweb and ICT websites for DE&T.
From 2002 to 2006 Greg was lecturing in Information and Communication Technology at ACU National - School of Education in Canberra. He was Grad Dip Course Coordinator from 2004-2006.
Greg Powell now lectures in ICT at La Trobe University within the Faculty of Education - Melbourne (Bundoora Campus) to the Dip of Education Post Graduate students.
Greg's PhD was completed at The University of Melbourne (Graduate School of Education). His thesis title was: The Revolution Yet To Come: A study of how a learning community can transform education for the twenty-first century.

Report for the Victorian Curriculum Corporation (Round 4: ASISTM (Australian School Innovation in Science, Technology and Mathematics) based on interviews of teachers in Western suburbs involved in the Re-Engineering Western Youth Futures December 2008. This program aimed at engaging students through the Schools Innovation Design Challenge. An initiative of the Re-Engineering Australia Forum Ltd. Students used a multimedia software program called "Cosmic Blobs". Through participation in this project students and teachers developed understandings and awareness of the innovative use of software, design and manufacturing processes catering for a variety of learning styles in Primary Schools. This enquiry based learning approach using software called Cosmic Blobs™ should improve Science, Technology and Mathematics outcomes for these students.

Research projects
2013-2016: Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD), Intel corporation, Charles La Trobe Secondary College and La Trobe University (Faculty of Education): Classrooms of the Future project.
2011-2012: The Teaching Teachers for the Future (TTF) Project– funded by the Australian Commonwealth government – is concerned with enhancing teaching with and through information and communication technologies (ICT) in Australian schools. The TTF Project targets systematic change in ICT in Education (ICTE) proficiency of graduate teachers across Australia by building the ICTE capacity of teacher educators and developing resources. Dr Greg together with Dr Jenny Masters (Bendigo campus) are the TTF Coordinators with Caroline Neville-Wright/Melissa Minchinton (Melbourne) and Graeme Draaisma (Bendigo) as ICT Project Officers (ICTPO). The primary role of the ICT Pedagogy Officers is to work with teacher educators and pre-service teachers at La Trobe University to develop and share exemplary ICTE curriculum and pedagogy, and to contribute to leadership in Mathematics and Science.
