Brief profile
David Beagley is Lecturer in Children's Literature and Literacy at La Trobe University's Bendigo campus, Victoria, Australia, where he teaches units in Genres, History, Australian, and Post-colonial children's literature, and the literature and literacy of Young Adults. He is general editor of the international, open-access journal The Looking Glass: new perspectives on children's literature and is co-convener of the biennial Euphemia Tanner Lecture on children's literature and literacy. He has previously taught English, Literature, History and Drama in secondary schools, and has been a school and university librarian. His research interests include the history of traditional "boys' adventure" stories, especially those involving aircraft, and the future of scholarship in the world of interactive, Web 2.0 technologies.
David's lectures in Genres in Children's Literature, History of Children's Literature and Fiction for Young Adults were posted on iTunes U (part of the iTunes Store) through 2012, and are available for free download from those websites.
