Research

Staff in the Faculty of Education, Bendigo conduct high quality research and consultancy activities with the teachers, students and schools in the region, and with colleagues in Europe, Asia, Canada and the United States of America.

We have a wide range of research interests that respond to the challenge for all schools and teachers to pursue excellence and innovation.

Staff research activities also inform the development of our pre and post-service teacher education programs. Staff regularly contribute to local, national and international forums in their area of scholarly excellence.

    • Tytler, R., Prain, V., Waldrip, B., & Hubber, P. (2007-2009) ARC Linkage Grant ($313,000). Learning through Representation in Science.
    • Waldrip, B., Prain, V., Treagust, D, Knight, B. & Green, J. (2005-7) ARC Linkage Grant ($273,106). Enhancing Science learning through a focus on Multiple and Multi-Modal Representations of Concepts.
    • Prain, V. Research consultant with Professor Mark Hackling, Edith Cowan University, in a DEST-funded national Primary Science and Literacy professional learning project linking these two curriculum areas (2004-8) $4,800,000.
    • Prain, V., Legge, K., & Waldrip, B. (2003) Learning Physics at Tertiary level through a Focus on Multimodal Representations of Concepts. LTU Faculty for Regional Development Research Project Grant ($3000).
    • Sheed, J. The Catholic Education Commission of Victoria commissioned an evaluative study of the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning in Victorian Catholic Secondary Schools ($12,800).
