Fred Courtis as Head of Art Education at Bendigo Teachers College began the collection 50 years ago in order to allow staff and students access to significant art on a daily basis. The collection is one of national importance comprising mainly paintings and works on paper. It includes work by nationally recognised artists such as Arthur Boyd, Fred Williams, Roger Kemp and Grace Cossington-Smith. Contemporary artists are also included.
