Brief profile

Peter Sivey joined La Trobe as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Economics in 2013.  Previously he was a Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow at the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research, University of Melbourne.  His research interests centre on the economics of healthcare markets.  He is working on research projects including hospital competition, waiting times, doctor pricing and analyzing data from the MABEL project. His wider research interests include multinomial choice models, microeconometrics in general, and microeconomic theory (especially Industrial Organisation) applied to healthcare markets. He has published in leading international journals such as Journal of Industrial Economics, Journal of Health Economics and Health Economics and is a chief investigator on a current ARC Discovery grant "Competition in Medical Labour Markets". Peter has a PhD in Economics (2009) from the University of York.
