General information about international graduations
What to do on the day of the ceremony
Students are asked to arrive between 2.5 and 1.5 hours before the ceremony begins. Upon arrival, students register at the registration table and then collect their gowns from the gowning room. Professional photos may be taken before or after the ceremony. Students must attend a briefing in the gowning room 30 mins before the ceremony begins.
Guest tickets
Each student is allocated two guest tickets, which are collectable from the registration desk on the day of the ceremony. Extra guest tickets may be available, but this can only be determined approximately two weeks before the ceremony. Please advise us if you wish to be considered for extra guest tickets by indicating in the appropriate section of your Conferring of an Award Application Form, or by emailing ceremonies@latrobe.edu.au as soon as possible. You will receive an email reply in the two week period prior to the ceremony. All guest tickets are given to students at the registration desk on the day of the ceremony.
Photographers
Professional photographers will be at the graduation venues on the day of the ceremony to take photos of you in your academic regalia. The photographers will be available from two hours before the starting time of the ceremony and for two hours afterwards.
Academic dress
We will arrange academic dress for you to wear at the ceremony. Your academic dress can be collected from the gown room 2.5 hours before the ceremony begins, and must be returned 1.5 hours after the ceremony finishes. A security deposit (cash or cheque made out La Trobe University) for the gown is paid at the registration desk. This deposit is fully refunded when the academic dress is returned at the end of the ceremony.
To purchase your own La Trobe University academic dress please contact La Trobe University Guild for more information.
