Desktop Systems Support GroupRetrospect Backup ServiceDSSG provides a backup service to both Windows and Macintosh users using Retrospect software. The Remote Backup Service (RBS) works together with the Retrospect client software installed on your computer to backup your My Documents folder (for Windows users) or Documents folder (for Mac users). Backups are performed remotely, therefore it is important that your computer is left on (but logged off) during the week, to allow RBS to perform a successful backup. The RBS is charged at cost recovery. For new subscribers, there is a once only charge of $50 for the Retrospect client license. Backups can occur weekly or daily. For individuals, the charge for a weekly backup is $50 per calendar year or $1 pro rata for new subscribers. A daily backup service is also available for $150 per calendar year, $3 per week pro rata for backups from Monday to Friday. When a whole department or workgroup is subscribed, the charge is only $40 per machine per calendar year (a 20% discount). File restores can be completed the same day, usually within the hour.
