Installation & configuration of Mozilla for WebCT use

To install & configure Mozilla takes about 5 minutes, maybe less. If you would like Mozilla installed, please call the Macintosh Administrator at DSSG on ext. 7722.

Once it is installed, we need to configure it. There are just three things to do... make a default home page, allow cookies and set the proxy.

To do these things, open Mozilla and from the Mozilla menu, select Preferences. On the left hand side is a list of Preference categories. Click the disclosure triangle adjacent to the second item, Navigator . Type webct.latrobe.edu.au into the Home page Location field, as in figure 1 below.

Next, click the disclosure triangle adjacent to the Privacy & Security category. Click the Cookies category and then click the radio button labelled Enable cookies for the originating web site only as in figure 2 below.

Finally, click the Advanced disclosure triangle and click on the Proxies category. Select the Manual proxy configuration radio button and type proxy.latrobe.edu.au as the HTTP Proxy and then type 8080 for the Port number, as in figure 3.

If you have any difficulties with this at all, please call the Macintosh Administrator at DSSG on ext. 7722.
