Guidelines on the usage of ben-staffwork and ben-staffsocial emails

All staff at La Trobe University are obliged to comply with University's Computer Regulations found at: http://www.latrobe.edu.au/its/regulations.htm and in particular:

Use of Email
(4) A Computer User shall
(a) use e-mail services provided by the University only in accordance with this Regulation, the Internet Code of Practice and University Policies and Procedures;
(b) not use e-mail services provided by the University to
 (i) send unsolicited commercial e-mail; or
 (ii) send defamatory, obscene, abusive, fraudulent, intimidatory harassing or repetitive messages or attachments; or
(iii) engage in sexual harassment or any other conduct prohibited by law.
 
(c) not access or attempt to access the electronic mailbox of another Computer User.

 


Any email involving Police matters must be cleared by the Campus Director before being sent.



ben-staffwork Messages
Email that is sent to ben-staffwork must apply to a significant percentage of academic or general staff about work related issues
eg. Messages sent to notify of: power outages, Seminars, Research Grants, etc.

ben-staffsocial Messages
Email that is sent to ben-staffsocial must adhere to the above regulations but would be for general information.
eg. Messages sent to notify of: items for sale, requests for taped television shows even for academic purposes, upcoming events not organised by the University, etc.
If at any time you wish to no longer receive email from ben-staffsocial, please contact Desktop Systems Support Group.
