Accounts & Passwords
- Active Directory (AD)
Your Active Directory account is your main La Trobe login. It is used
for systems such as email, ESS, WebCT, etc.
For security reasons, passwords expire every 90 days, with the previous
12 passwords not available for re-use. Passwords must be a minimum of 8 characters
and contain at least 3 of the 4 types of characters (Capital - A,
B, C, Lower - a, b, c, Number - 1, 2, 3, Non alpha/numeric !, @,
#, $).

- Reset Password Tool
La Trobe University has provided an online utility for both staff
and students to change their own Active Directory passwords. DSSG
highly recommend that you Register
to Reset your Password and use the Reset Password if you forget your Active
Directory Password.
- SAP (Systems, Applications, Products in Data Processing)
After three (3) unsuccessful login attempts the SAP window closes and the account is flagged to be locked after another two (2) failures. The flag is removed at midnight, allowing another three (3) attempts before being flagged again.
If you have five (5) login failures in one day, SAP locks your account.
Phone the ITS Service Desk on Extn. 1500 and ask to have your password reset or account unlocked.
