Events
November 2010: Australian Ambassador to Turkey, Ian Biggs (centre) meeting with: (L-R) Fouad Dirgham, LTU Arabic Students’ Advisor; Dr Michalis Michael; Dr Benjamin Isakhan; Prof Charles Mott, LTU School of Historical and European Studies; Dr Adrian Jones, LTU History; and Prof Christopher Mackie, University of Melbourne.
The Centre for Dialogue hosts various conferences, lectures, seminars and public forums each year, many of which are organised in conjunction with other research institutions from around the world.
The events are intended to explore the political, national, religious and cultural dimensions of many local, national and international conflicts. Participants examine the potential for dialogue to cease hostilities, mitigate tensions, and promote fruitful relations.
Whilst many of the conferences and lectures form part of our research programmes, the overarching purpose of these Centre events is to raise awareness and to prompt discussion on the many dilemmas that hinder social cohesion.
The Centre intends to host at least one keynote public event and one major international conference each year.
