Dr Phil Suter is an associate professor at the Department of Environmental Management and Ecology, Albury-Wodonga. His area of specialisation is fresh water, macroinvertebrate ecology, taxonomy and ecology of Mayflies (Insecta: Ephemeroptera). He is currently Head of Department and Director of the Research Centre for Applied Alpine Ecology.

His research interests include:

- Systematics of Aquatic Insects, particularly Australian Mayflies (Ephemeroptera), using morphological and molecular techniques.

- Ecology of aquatic invertebrates in

Alpine peatlands

Alpine streams

Temporary streams

Large lowland floodplain rivers

- Biological monitoring of Australian rivers using aquatic macroinvertebrates.
