If the Feedback Team receive requests with less advance notice, the Planning and Institutional Performance Unit (PIPU) cannot guarantee provision of forms by your requested date.

Student Feedback Process Deadlines: Semester 1, 2012

Release of individual reports:

Week beginning Monday 16 July 2012


To ensure timely processing of results please note that any orders or completed surveys arriving after the above cut-off dates will not be processed by the Feedback Team unless there are exceptional circumstances.   This means that individual reports will NOT be provided or included in Semester One aggregate reports. 

Please also note that requests for Student Feedback survey forms must be made at least 10 working days prior to the planned administration date. If the Feedback Team receives requests with less than 10 days notice, we cannot guarantee provision of forms by the requested date.

Please do NOT recycle any Student Feedback survey forms from previous semesters because they are unable to be processed by the Feedback Team.

Surveys should be administered between Monday 7 May and Friday 25 May (Weeks 10-12). According to the Student Feedback on Subjects and Teaching Procedures (Policy Database Document Reference Number 116003D and 116004D), surveys are not to be administered in the final week or final session of a subject. They may be administered after approximately 75% of teaching is completed (usually during Weeks 10-12 of a 13-week semester or at an equivalent point during other teaching schedules).

  •  In the first semester of offer for all new undergraduate subjects

  •  At least once every two years during which the subject is offered (each time if it taught for subjects taught in alternate years)

Postgraduate Feedback on Subject (PFSU)
  • A faculty, school or department nominated representative.
  •  In the first semester of offer for new subjects
  •  At least annually for first-year subjects
  •  At least once every two years during which the subject is offered (each time if it taught for subjects taught in alternate years)

Student Feedback on Teaching (SFTE)
  • Any member of La Trobe University continuing teaching staff can request a SFTE.
  • Subject coordinators can initiate requests for SFTE forms on behalf of casual teaching staff who conduct lectures.
  •  An SFTE questionnaire will be administered in at least one subject in each teaching period during which a staff member is teaching.
  •  Selection of the subject(s) in which students are to be surveyed will be made in consultation with the Head of School or performance supervisor.

Student Feedback on Tutoring (SFTU)
  • Academic staff who are tutoring for subjects in which they also may or may not lecture can request their own SFTUs.
  • Subject coordinators can initiate requests for SFTU forms on behalf of casual teaching staff who conduct tutorials.
  •  An SFTU questionnaire will be administered in at least one subject in each teaching period during which a staff member is teaching.
  • Selection of the subject(s) in which students are to be surveyed will be made in consultation with the Head of School or performance supervisor.

Student Feedback on Demonstrating (SFDE)
  • Academic staff who are conducting practical classes for subjects in which they also may or may not lecture can request their own SFDEs.
  • Subject coordinators can initiate requests for SFDE forms on behalf of casual teaching staff who conduct laboratory practical classes.
  •  An SFDE questionnaire will be administered in at least one subject in each teaching period during which a staff member is teaching.
  • Selection of the subject(s) in which students are to be surveyed will be made in consultation with the Head of School or performance supervisor.

  • Academic staff who are conducting workshops for subjects in which they also lecture can request their own SFWOs.
  • Subject coordinators can initiate requests for SFWO forms on behalf of casual teaching staff who conduct workshops.
  •  An SFWO questionnaire will be administered in at least one subject in each teaching period during which a staff member is teaching.
  •  Selection of the subject(s) in which students are to be surveyed will be made in consultation with the Head of School or performance supervisor.

Postgraduate Feedback on Teaching (PFTE)
  • Any member of La Trobe University continuing teaching staff who is teaching a postgraduate coursework subject can request a PFTE.
  • Subject coordinators can initiate requests for PFTE forms on behalf of casual teaching staff who conduct lectures.
  •  A PFTE questionnaire will be administered in at least one subject in each teaching period during which a staff member is teaching.
  • Selection of the subject(s) in which students are to be surveyed will be made in consultation with the Head of School or performance supervisor.
