John is a lecturer in curriculum and academic development with the Curriculum, Teaching and Learning Centre at La Trobe University. He works collaboratively with academic staff on approaches to online and blended learning, with particular focus on flexible and online learning (FOLD) projects for the development of strategic and sustainable curriculum design. He has a background in broadcast media and developing online education resources. His teaching experience includes subjects in education, media studies, and electronic publishing, and is currently coordinator for EDU4HER: Applied Research in Higher Education: An Individual Project with Team Support.

John conducts research on the effects of networked technologies on practice. His PhD Reassembling Practice: A relational approach to online learning, investigates the transformative effects of networked technologies on sociality and learning in the context of technological change in Castells’ “network society”.
