Academic Staff Development

The CTLC offers a range of opportunities to support your academic, teaching and curriculum development.
See Events and Program calendar for list of all scheduled events.
- Effective Teaching for Higher Learning: Practical, Research-based Strategies (or the 3 day workshop) is an orientation to the principles and practices of curriculum, teaching and learning at La Trobe. The 3 day workshop is held several times, and at different regional campuses, throughout the year.
- Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Curriculum, Teaching and Learning is a two-year part time postgraduate award course for staff interested in learning more about improving student learning.
- Tutors and Demonstrators are supported in their roles and responsibilities through a number of workshops, usually held in the week before each semester begins. In 2011, specific workshops will support the implementation of the first year of Design for Learning.
- LMS Training Sessions (including Respondus and Turnitin) support you with the design and development of a web presence for your subject. In 2011, the university will formally adopt Moodle as its LMS platform.
- Audio-Visual and Lecture theatre Training Sessions (including videoconferencing and Lectopia) provide an orientation to, and hands-on practice of, the various technology and equipment in lecture theatres around the campus.
- The Curriculum, Teaching and Learning Colloquium is held in December each year and provides the university community with an opportunity to share best practice and celebrate its curriculum, teaching and learning achievements each year.
From time to time, the CTLC offers customised workshops to support Faculty, School and Department curriculum, teaching and learning initiatives. Contact the following CTLC faculty liaison for further discussion:
