Duration
The course may be taken full-time over one year or part-time over two years.

- Completion of the 3-day workshop "Effective Teaching at La Trobe" or equivalent
- Support of relevant Head of School and Associate Dean (Academic) or equivalent managers
- Permission of course coordinator - Professor Tom Angelo

Course structure
The GCHE is a 60 credit point course, requiring completion of four x 15 credit point subjects.

Does the Graduate Certificate have any core subjects?
Yes, there is one core subjects:
The first 15-point subject – Higher Learning by Design: Foundations of Curriculum Design, Teaching and Learning in Tertiary Education (EDU4CTL) – is the compulsory entry pathway to the GCHE and will be offered in semester 1, 2012. That is, it must be taken before any other subjects in this qualification. Higher Learning by Design is a highly interactive experience, in which participants meet for half-day workshop sessions on alternate Fridays.
Are there pre-requisites for this course?
Prospective students must have successfully completed the 3-day workshop "Effective Teaching at La Trobe" (or equivalent).
Are there any other conditions regarding eligibility to enrol?
- Prospective students may not be concurrently enrolled in any other postgraduate course.
- LTU staff who are not Australian citizens or do not have permanent residency must seek agreement from their Head of School to pay the difference between the domestic and international fees for this course.
- All prospective students must contact and receive permission of the course coordinator before enrolling.
What if I have already completed earlier/other versions of EDU4CTL at La Trobe or similar Graduate Certificate subjects at another university?
Please make an appointment with the course coordinator to discuss the relevance to the GCHE. Appointments can be made by contacting Robyn Hodge, CTLC Executive Officer.
What if I’m not a member of La Trobe staff?
The GCHE is also open to qualified external students. You must contact the course coordinator to ensure that you have the pre-requisites to enrol.
When should I apply?
The closing date for Semester One applications is Friday February 10, 2012.
