Dr Jamieson's background is in Psychology and he has extensive experience across a broad range of the dominant areas of the discipline. Dr Jamieson has become particularly interested in Community Psychology which investigates the significance of this form of social relationship on Quality of Life. He teaches a subject “The Psychology of Community Life”. Dr Jamieson's research, carried out with his colleague Tim Godber and a number of students, has focused on trying to understand the factors which influence a person's report on their sense of community. Part of the research task has been to review existing measures and develop a measure which has solid conceptual foundations, good psychometric properties and is useful in longitudinal studies of communities.
