Dr Ian Coldwell is a Rural Sociologist and Research Fellow in the Centre for Sustainable Regional Communities, Latrobe University. He holds a BA (Psychology-Sociology) with first class honours and a PhD. in Rural Sociology from Charles Sturt University in New South Wales.

Ian’s research interests are located in rural communities and on farms with a focus toward the sociology of agriculture, rural communities, the environment, masculinity studies and feminist science studies. 

The broader purpose of Ian’s research is to gain a better understanding of the collisions of people, technology and significant others in the transition from our present carbon dependent world society to technologically sustainable ways of life, as we try to work out who belongs where and what flourishing means for whom.
