Abstract:   A major issue facing organisations is their ability to survive varying degrees of dislocation as a result of unexpected “events” in their external and internal environments. The 9/11, tsunami and Hurricane Katrina are examples of such large “events”. There are also smaller “events”, that if not managed appropriately can contribute to so called creeping failures. Organisations attempt to deal with these issues currently by various approaches to continuity, disaster and more recently around the concept of resilience. Ideally, organisations should be able to measure and evaluate the resiliency of their business processes, which can be either fully or partly or not resilient at all, but they are facing difficulties because there is an inadequate defined method of measuring and tools used to measure resilience. Therefore, there is a need to develop new method and approach of measure resilient capability in organisations. The new measuring method and approach is intended to allow organisations to determine the level and nature of their resilient capability and also provide a better view for the improvement of their organisational processes’ resiliency.
