Abstract:   In this seminar we explore case-based reasoning (CBR) and hybrid approaches aimed to improve the case-based reasoning cycle, and improve the application of CBR to varied domains. An example of a hybrid CBR system is presented, which integrates a Genetic Algorithm (GA) for adaptation and feeds information back into the adaptation step to help the GA learn which mutations are better to use. The motivations behind controlling genetic mutations leads into the fact that we, as humans, want to predict and attempt to have control over our environment. We focus on a special prediction problem, in the domain of Meteorological Forecasting. Meteorological Forecasting is in the domain of complex dynamic systems, and proposed investigations into the application of Hybrid CBR systems to the domain of complex systems are discussed.
