Abstract:   Recent developments have expanded the range of opportunities in the region between IT and Statistics. They include data warehousing and the ability to manipulate massive data sets (in marketing, fraud detection, intelligence etc..) and the implementation soon of international compliance standards like Basel II in banking risk and IFRS in accounting, which require high standards of statistical measurement. The speaker will lead discussion on the range of skills required in these areas, and will talk about the work of he new Institute of Analytics Professionals of Australia.
