Research Title/Topic: Genome Database Integration
Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Wenny Rahayu & Prof. T.S. Dillon
Description:
There are currently hundreds of genomic databases publicly available on the internet. Most of these databases allow the user to search each database individually by keyword. This method works but usually requires the user to manually review the results to remove data that is not relevant; this is not an option when the amount of data needed to be reviewed is taken into account. The main reason reviewing the data after a search is needed is because keyword search doesn?t take the context of the keyword into account; simply returning all data that contains the keyword. To get around this problem my work uses multiple ontologies to allow the user to specify and receive data from only the required context of the keyword.
