Research Facilities For StudentsDepartment of Computer Science & Computer EngineeringWhen you join the Department of Computer Science and Computer Engineering, you become part of a committed and friendly community, working within the framework, which provides a stimulating and supportive environment for the exchange of ideas and knowledge. Our Research and Graduate Studies Office provides a focus and profile for postgraduate activities and frequently reviews the facilities and services offered to our postgraduate students. We aim to ensure you have all the facilities you need to successfully complete your studies. Supervision: Each student will have at least one supervisor for his/her area of study. Supervisor(s) give encouragement as well as critical advice and are committed to the high standard of supervision laid down by the university. Conference Attendence: The Department supports research postgraduates in attending conferences within and outside Australia. Part-Time Work: The Department encourages eligible postgraduate students to work as demonstrators and tutors during the semester. Library: The Library is committed to advancing the teaching, learning and research of the University with the highest standards of information resources and services. You will have access to variety of software to support your research activities. Study Area: It is the Department’s policy to provide our research students with a shared office, PC and phone facilities. Students will have 24 hours access to their workplace. Students are eligible for printing and photocopying facilities as well. Language and Academic Support: The Faculty of Science, Technology and Engineering has its own Language and Academic Skills Unit, which provides academic and language skill support to all enrolled students. Leisure Activities: The University has a wide range of clubs and societies to support the interests of our students. Our Sports and Recreation Centre has modern facilities with indoor swimming pool for students' use. Please look at La Trobe University's main site for more facilities.
