The School of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences offer a number of scholarships for commencing international students. Listed below are details on all Departmental scholarships, to apply for any of these scholarships please follow the instructions under the section "Apply Now" Below.

PhD Scholarship: Database Optimisation for Flash Memory
One PhD scholarship is available in the area of database optimization for flash memory. Flash memory is a superior database storage medium than the hard disk drive(HDD). Flash memory can access data up to 100 times faster than HDD and currently can store more than 640GB of data. This means in the future flash memory is likely to replace HDDs for large database servers that require high performance. In addition flash memory is particularly suitable for small portable devices since it is small, shock resistant and uses little energy. This project aims to create and evaluate algorithms that take full advantage of the desirable characteristics of flash memory while overcoming its significant hardware constraints. La Trobe I.T. - Higher Achiever Scholarships $3,000
The Department offers a select number of high achiever scholarships to outstanding international students from India who wish to pursue the Master of Computer Science, Master of Computer Networks, Master of Software Engineering, Master of Information Systems or Master of Information Technology and its specialisation courses.
How to Apply

Prospective students must submit their application for an admission to La Trobe University by 16 December, 2009 for commencing their studies in February 2010. Students should attach a written expression of interest to their application clearly indicating the scholarship code: FSTE - 06 - FW. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and this written expression of interest.
