The Department of Computer Science and Computer Engineering is located in a purpose-built
building and offers a range of computing facilities for students to access 24 hours a day
in a secure environment.

Round the clock Lab Access

The department is home to approximately 10 computer laboratories each with 24 hour access to students.

The department is home to approximately 6 computer laboratories. All labs are available until 10:00pm Mon-Thurs and until 6pm Friday,
with two laboratories which have 24 hour access to students.

We offer a total of approximately 10 computer laboratories, each room equiped with a minimum of 25 machines boasting the latest technology

We offer a total of approximately 6 computer laboratories, each room equiped with a minimum of 20 machines boasting the latest technology
Unix Laboratories
Melbourne (Bundoora)
We have a Unix/Windows laboratory for our postgraduate students with 10 dedicated UNIX machines. All of our labs though offer access to our
UNIX servers via a secure shell client interface.
Bendigo
We provide students with a full UNIX laboratory, with approximately 25 UNIX machines.
eMac Laboratory
Bendigo
We provide students with a full eMac laboratory, running the latest operating system OSX, with approximately 30 eMac's available for student use.
CISCO Networking laboratory

We offer students the opportunity to have a hands on experience in networking in our state of the art CISCO laboratory.

of PC's running UNIX and CISCO switches and routers.
Specialised Postgraduate Laboratory & Offices

We have 2 specialised postgraduate laboratories dedicated to students completing their Honours or Masters Degrees and approximately 3
postgraduate rooms and a number of offices dedicated to postgraduate students completing full time research (i.e. Masters by Research or PhD) with dedicated
PC's for each student

Large number of computer systems

We have approximately 350 computer systems available for student use. All systems are equiped with the latest technology and software
designed to meet all student needs while completing their course at La Trobe.

designed to meet all student needs while completing their course at La Trobe.
Latest technology available in Labs
Melbourne (Bundoora)
Our labs are continually updated to include the latest technology needed by any of our courses. We currently have a Games Technology Lab
which features the latest NVIDIA graphics cards and numerous testing games, such as Unreal Tournament 2005, for the use by Games Technology students.

Our labs are equiped with some of the newest computer systems available, for example we have a state of the art eMac lab with the latest technology
and all of our labs are constantly updated and refined to meet the latest technological advances.

We have a large number of servers available for student use: in total the department is home to approximately 30 servers.
All of our servers are constantly updated with the latest in server technology advances.
We are currently home to:
- Several Dual and Quad Processor Xeon Linux Servers
- Several Dual Processor Xeon Windows Servers
- A Dual Processor Opteron based simulation Server
- A number of dedicated Pentium 4 simulation machines
- A Network simulation and hardware laboratory (Latest CISCO equipment)

All of our servers are constantly updated with the latest in server technology advances.
