Foundation Studies – Undergraduate preparation
The academic entry requirement requires successful completion of an Australian Year 11 program, or comparable educational level.
International applicants must also demonstrate English language proficiency by achieving an IELTS score of 5.5 (minimum of 5.0 in each individual band), or equivalent standard.
Where advanced standing is not awarded, the program’s duration is one year.
Characteristics of learning outcomes include:
- Development of English language proficiency to the level appropriate for undergraduate studies.
- Attainment of subject specific knowledge that meets pre requisite requirements for destination undergraduate programs and provides a foundation for future learning.
- Development of academic skills relevant to undergraduate studies, particularly in the areas of research, independent learning, problem solving, group work, and communication of information both orally and in writing.
Successful completion of Foundation Studies creates eligibility for entry to a range of Diploma, Degree and Associate Degree programs. Standards required for entry into particular programs are established by individual faculties. Foundation Studies does not qualify its graduates for advanced standing toward the destination programs.
Foundation Studies programs are university qualification categories and the award is a Certificate of Achievement.
