Why study Genetics?
The Postgraduate Diploma in Science gives you a flexible program to take your knowledge and skills to an advanced level. This course is for students with a suitable background in genetics, but who have not necessarily completed a Bachelor of Science.
It provides you with an insight into scientific study, by offering hands-on research on an appropriate problem. Assessment is on a variety of skills essential for a research scientist, including writing a literature review, analysing and critically assessing experimental data and presentation of experimental findings.
As a La Trobe graduate you may be eligible for our 10% Alumni Advantage when you apply for a full-fee postgraduate coursework program.
A postgraduate qualification is sought after by employers looking for career professionals, as it demonstrates the capacity to extend knowledge through research, reading and discussion, to conduct critical, independent and imaginative thinking, and to communicate scientific research. Graduates have improved career options in a range of science industries or government agencies, locally and overseas.
