Strategic communication
Why study Strategic communication?
If you are an undergraduate student with a strong academic record, Honours gives you the opportunity to pursue a year long program of study (two years part-time) which combines coursework and research in a specialised area of knowledge. You can also elect to undertake a combined Honours year and gain expertise in two areas of study for a broad-ranging qualification. Complete the Honours program with a high overall grade to qualify for entry into a Masters by Research program, or, in cases of high achievement, direct entry into a PhD program.

Television, film, radio, print and online production, journalism, media law, marketing, advertising, teaching, communications, industry funding organisations, campaign or advocacy officer, media expert, policy and research officer (Government, business, academic, NGO).

Pathways
There are two pathways are available. The first pathway requires the completion of two coursework subjects at fourth year level, a seminar presentation, and a 12,000 to 15,000 word thesis. The second pathway requires the completion of two coursework subjects at fourth year level, a seminar presentation, a reflective essay of 6000 words and a creative production. Entry requirements
Students may be selected into honours at the end of their third year. The principal requirement for selection is consistently high performance (normally at least a B average) in the core subjects; and in particular, distinction in third year media subjects.
How to apply
Prospective students should make their interest known to the Media Studies Honours Coordinator by early June for commencement in second semester or November for commencement in first semester. Honours candidates are expected to undertake preliminary reading and writing in the break, which precedes their initial enrolment.
