Sport Management
Why study Honours in Sport Management?
The School of Management’s Honours program gives you the opportunity to pursue a year-long program of study (two years part-time) which combines coursework and research in a specialised area of knowledge. The advanced analytical, research and communication skills you will gain as a result of completing honours are highly sought after by employers and will set you apart from the majority of undergraduate students in a competitive job market.
Career opportunities
Graduates can expect to work with professional sporting teams and elite athletes, community sport leagues, state and national sports governing bodies, player management agencies, sport administration, sponsorship and marketing, apparel and merchandising companies, health and fitness centres, sporting events and venues and local government bodies. See careers for sport management graduates.

The program consists of 120 credit points ‒ the equivalent of eight subjects ‒ and is competed in one year of full-time study, or over two years part-time.
Coursework
Students will be required to complete four coursework subjects in first semester.
Thesis
Students will complete a minor thesis of 20,000 words in second semester. The thesis will be completed under the direct supervision of an academic staff member. Students will begin work on their thesis in first semester by defining a topic, planning the methodology and obtaining ethics approval from the University.
Entry requirements
To apply for Honours students must have successfully completed a bachelor’s degree with a major sequence of subjects in sports management. Students must have obtained an average of 70% or better in at least six second-and-third-year core subjects in this major sequence.

There are a limited number of places available in the Honours program; however, the number of places available differs each year depending on the availability of academic staff to act as supervisors.
