Industry Advisory Board

The La Trobe MBA Advisory Board provides advice on issues relevant to the MBA program’s strategic direction. The board plays a distinct role in helping to promote the La Trobe MBA brand, facilitating the development of strong organisational links, and providing strategic direction for its development and future expansion.

Our board is composed of both internal and external stakeholders. Internal stakeholders include the Head and Associate Head of the La Trobe Business School, as well the Director and Deputy Director of the MBA program. External stakeholders serving on the board are a mixture of La Trobe MBA graduates and industry professionals.

Janine Young

Janine Young is the Energy & Water Ombudsman in NSW. Janine has extensive experience in independent dispute resolution services through her prior roles as Victorian Public Transport Ombudsman, and before that, the Deputy Ombudsman for Energy and Water Victoria.

Janine is passionate about ensuring that equitable access to essential and non-essential services and social justice is available for all Australians – especially to vulnerable people, through social inclusion, community connectedness, and delivery of accessible, equitable and innovative services.

Completing her MBA at La Trobe University in 2012, she holds undergraduate qualifications in marketing and management and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). Janine is on the Standards Australia’s Complaint Handling Committee and is an Executive Member of the Australian and New Zealand Ombudsman Association (ANZOA).

Caroline Patton

Caroline is the founder and Director of Accuteque. As a mother of three, Caroline built the Accuteque business over an 11-year period with the support of her husband. Accuteque focuses on helping reshape other businesses, enabling them to be more sustainable.

Caroline started her career in 1989 as a customer service officer for National Mutual where she joined the business analysis team, specialising in implementing new processes and systems. This experience led to her focus on change and transformation, as well as optimisation of business operations. In 1997, Caroline joined Ansett Australia as a senior business consultant and in 1999 travelled to London to join Unisys. In 2002, Caroline returned to Australia where she founded Accuteque and has grown the business from a single consultant to a team of 40 people.

Caroline is passionate about delivering quality outcomes and providing people with a positive experience. She has consulted at senior levels in a number of multinational companies. She is a specialist in:

  • implementation and release management
  • people management
  • program and project management
  • quality assurance management
  • stakeholder relationship management
  • strategy definition and execution.

Caroline is a highly competent, successful and professional leader with diverse experience across a variety of industries, including airline, banking, finance, insurance, logistics, management consulting, petroleum, retail, superannuation and telecommunications.

Gerard Mullins

Gerard Mullins is a broadly experienced manager and consultant. Gerard has accumulated valuable professional experience across a range of industries and business sectors. As the founder and director of an IT services business, Gerard has engaged directly with owners, CEOs and directors to effectively manage one of their most valued assets (IT infrastructure, applications and business systems). This has provided great insight into the operations of a wide variety of businesses and industries. This experience is complemented by formal executive study and certifications.

Gerard’s key experience and interests include:

  • developing ICT strategies to complement business strategies
  • ICT risk management
  • ICT governance policy and practice
  • ICT project management
  • business development specifically the introduction of professional business management best practices
