This course aims to give students the knowledge and skills necessary for careers in a wide range of areas within the private and public sectors. It adopts a problem-focused approach that helps students develop important problem-solving and decision-making skills relevant to any business.

Depending on campus, majors include business economics, financial planning, financial management, human resource (HR) management, international business, international management, macroeconomics, management, management information systems, marketing, and sustainable resource management. The flexible program includes an exit point at Diploma level for domestic students only (see Diploma in Business).
Prerequisite
VCE Units 3 & 4: study score of at least 25 in English (ESL) or 20 in any other English.

Course description
This degree seeks to equip undergraduates with the skills and knowledge required for a career as a marketing manager or related marketing positions. It is designed to provide competencies and skills that are internationally transferable. A special feature is the program's experiential content, including a marketing practicum aimed at developing work-integrated learning, and an International marketing study tour which introduces students to the practical experience of marketing in an international context.
The first year framework comprises four business foundation subjects, one discipline-specific subject and three elective subjects. The four business foundation subjects, Business Foundations, Accounting and Finance for Business, Business Economics, and Business Analytics, offer students a broad introduction into the key disciplines and work-ready skills of business. The discipline specific subject, Marketing: Defined, Planned and Delivered, introduce students to the principles of marketing. The three elective subjects broaden the students' learning experience by offering them the opportunity to study subjects chosen from across the faculty and the university.



Prerequisite
Completion of VCE and units 3 and 4 with study score of at least 25 for English (ESL) and 20 for any other English. Applicants with comparable qualifications will be considered. A limited number of students may also be considered under Special Entry Schemes.

Distinguishing features include a teaching style that blends theory and practical work, where students have the opportunity undertake an industry project (practicum) and/or an international study tour.

Fees are indicative only and set at 120 credit points per course, unless otherwise stated, and may vary depending on the number of credit points in which students enrol. Some courses may vary in credit point load and fees will be adjusted accordingly.

Marketing placement opportunities

As part of our commitment to innovating curriculum design and development, we have recently appointed several Work Integrated Learning Coordinators at our Melbourne and Regional campuses. Work integrated learning means you'll get to apply your skills in the workplace, as you study. You can earn credit towards your degree through work placements or simulations. Work integrated learning is endorsed by the Federal Government and industry groups such as the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It will assist to increase your employability potential when you graduate.

Additionally, opportunities for placement with leading firms are part of the marketing program. The Marketing Principles of Practice subject allows students to participate in a case study for a real client.

Overseas study opportunities

Gain valuable overseas experience by taking part in a short-term overseas study program with one of our 100 partner universities in over 30 countries. Or spend 6–12 months in a student exchange program in destinations like Canada, the US, South America, Europe or the UK. International Marketing Study Tour to China 

The hugely popular International Marketing Study Tour to China in summer semester lets you see marketing in action in one of the world’s fastest growing economies. The tour is available to students from Melbourne and Bendigo campuses. There are lectures and industry visits before you go, and on location. Students have the opportunity to meet senior executives who provide valuable insights into conducting international business within Asia's fastest growing major nation.
