Why study Information technology?
Learn the underlying theories and principles of IT, specialising in software development, computer networks and web development. Students will learn to critically analyse problems in various industry sectors and develop innovative solutions. Through the industry-based learning (IBL) program and major projects students can gain practical experience using IT applications and become professional in developing IT as an enabling technology. You can combine your studies with business, humanities, mathematics, public health and environmental science.

The Department of Computer Science and Computer Engineering offers the opportunity to gain industry-standard qualifications with CISCO and Microsoft as part of your degree.

Career opportunities
Graduates are prepared for roles as systems analyst, analyst programmer, database manager, software engineer, strategist, systems marketer, network support consultant, network project engineer, network security analyst, help desk support, internet specialist, LAN/WAN administrator, web designer and developer, systems administrator, webmaster, e-accounting engineer, quality assurer and project manager. You can also pursue a career in information and business system analysis, business process modelling, project planning, database administration and management, web application design and development, and IT services and systems.

Fees and scholarships
Estimated fees for international students are indicated for each course above. Fees are indicative only and set at 120 credit points per course, unless otherwise stated, and may vary depending on the number of credit points in which students enrol. Some courses may vary in credit point load and fees will be adjusted accordingly.
There is also a range of scholarships available for international students to assist students.
In addition, work experience and industry project work is part of many of our courses.
