History
Why research History?
We can supervise research on the social, cultural and political history of the Americas, Australia-Pacific and Europe (ancient and modern), in colonialism and post-colonialism, trans-nationalism, indigenous studies, human rights, landscape, (auto) biographical writing, religion and spirituality, feminism, gender relations, food and drink, art movements, film and culture. We have a weekly seminar, annual postgraduate conference and host visits by leading academics from Europe and North America. We run training workshops and you can get funds to present at conferences and undertake research visits interstate and abroad. Recent postgraduates have won many honours including the W.K. Hancock Prize for best first book published in history in Australia and the Ken Inglis Prize for best article at the national AHA conference and two of the last four tri-annual Geoffrey Serle Awards for best thesis.
