Course description
The interaction of strategic communications and journalism in the national and international context provide valuable insights for students seeking to advance their career in public relations or journalism.

The course includes two compulsory core subjects on journalism and global communications and offers a range of elective options; providing a rich variety of content to students wishing to develop advanced insights into journalism and strategic communications in an international context.

Students will also develop extended pieces of writing in a variety of forms, enabling them to fine tune their writing skills.
Prerequisite
Undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in the humanities and social sciences or cognate discipline with a B average. In the absence of a B average, relevant professional experience is considered.
Fee amount
Indicative (2013): $13 770 for 120 credit points.
Additional information
Honours is available via an additional semester (six months), and requires submitting a 15,000-word thesis worth 60 credit points.

Mid-year entry (July intake) is also available.

Course description
The era of globalisation increasingly requires people who wish to work in this area to have an understanding of the broader issues of international media as it impacts on international business. This double degree aims to provide students with an understanding of links between the major international business functions and the international media and to prepare students for a career in an international business environment.

Prerequisite
Australian Bachelors degree (or equivalent) with a minimum 70 per cent average.

Indicative (2013): $20 740 per 120 credit points.
Additional information
Students already enrolled in the Master of International Business who have completed less than six subjects may apply to transfer into this double Master's program.

IELTS (Academic): minimum score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0.

TOEFL Paper-based Test: minimum score of 575 (minimum score of 5 in the Test of Written English).

TOEFL Internet-based Test: minimum score of 80 with minimum overall for SLR 18; W 22.

Global communications placements

In MST5JIN students will develop contacts with, and work in, a media organisation. Students will develop an understanding of issues internal to the organisation such as its goals, structure, management and work practices.
