Choose Early Learning at La Trobe
If you’re working in the early childhood profession, the Bachelor of Early Learning will allow you to upgrade your qualification.
This course is designed to fit with your working life - it's delivered online with no on-campus attendance required, so you can combine your full-time childcare role with flexible studies . You can also complete up to 50 per cent of your supervised placement component in your workplace.*
This four-year program includes 180 credit points of advanced standing for the Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent, followed by a further 300 credit points for the Bachelor qualification.

When you graduate, you'll be qualified to teach children from birth to five years old in early childhood settings. You could work in early learning centres, kindergartens, preschools and early intervention programs.
What you'll learn
You'll learn how to:
- design both indoor and outdoor learning environments to cater to a range of educational purposes
- apply educational theories to assessment and reporting strategies
- design curriculum to service educational outcomes and encourage development in areas such as creativity, resilience, inclusivity, and environmental sensitivity
- develop strategies to identify and reduce the impacts of learning problems in early childhood contexts.
The course consists of 1.5 years (180 credit points) of advanced standing granted for completion of the Diploma in Children's Services and a further 300 credit points of study taken over 2.5 years.
Course content is delivered through online learning, and subjects are offered across four 13-week teaching periods.
