Duration

2 years full time.

If you have demonstrated prior learning (e.g. an undergraduate degree in business or more than five years' relevant experience) you may be able to get advanced standing (credit) for the first semester.  This will reduce the length of the course to 1.5 years.

Classes are held during the day and in the evening.

The complete course is 240 credit points.

Academic entry requirements

  • An Australian Bachelor's degree in any discipline or an approved equivalent qualification. 
  • Admission may be granted to applicants without an undergraduate degree but with five or more years of relevant work experience. 
  • We may consider a range of factors including English proficiency, academic record and employment experience.

English language requirements

IELTS (Academic): minimum score of 6.5 with no individual band score less than 6.0. For all accepted English language requirements, visit the course page.

Course content

In your first year you'll learn foundational knowledge from the fields of economics, finance, accounting, management theory and marketing principles over eight core subjects. In your second year, you'll develop knowledge in specialised areas of management, and pursue your interests and career aspirations through a range of electives.

Second year electives

You'll choose subjects from one of the following specialisations:

  • Sports management.

You'll also study a capstone subject in Strategic Management.

Featured staff

Dr Bret Slade

Dr Slade specialises in management and strategic management. He has advised both profit and not-for-profit organisations, and worked with emergency services and Australian and international defence force personnel. He is interested in business resilience and organisational effectiveness.

Dr Slade has contributed to books on Crisis Management and Entrepreneurship in addition to numerous publications in the areas of business psychology, business manoeuvre, strategy and innovation.

Dr Vanessa Ratten

Dr Ratten lectures on a diverse range of subjects including entrepreneurship, innovation and management. She has interests in sports policy and branding, corporate social responsibility, social capital and strategic management. Dr Ratten has co-authored books on Asian and European entrepreneurship and contributed to numerous publications. Her work includes articles on sport-based entrepreneurship, innovations in mobile commerce, and future research directions in tourism marketing.

Dr Ratten also serves on several editorial boards including the International Journal of Cloud Applications and Computing, the Journal of Entrepreneurship and Public Policy and the Journal of Business and Industrial Marketing.
