Course structure

Global markets are of increasing importance in all spheres of business and our Master of International Business develops your understanding of international business and the global economy, as well as the role of managers in this context.

Building on a foundation of study in economics, accounting and finance, management, marketing and statistics, you must complete 16 subjects totalling 240 credit points during the course.

The first year is made up of eight core subjects, including business foundation subjects in accounting and finance, economics, management practice and theory, and human resource management in a global economy.

In second year there are four core subjects; international financial management, governance in a globalising world, international business, and strategic management.  You can then choose four elective subjects from within the Business School.

You can choose from a wide range of elective subjects offered as part of the course or from other areas of the University, and take your studies overseas with offshore internship opportunities.

For more information about the electives offered by the La Trobe Business School, please refer to the La Trobe Business School postgraduate electives web page.

Students wishing to continue on to research can complete the Business Research Methods subject (MGT5BRM) and a 45 credit point thesis (MGT5THE) in second year in place of four other subjects (pending subject WAM requirements).
