Our degrees give you a solid grounding in economic theory and history while developing skills in quantitative analysis and logical thought. You will graduate with a confident grasp of the tools necessary to analyse and solve business problems in the workplace. Train in microeconomics (the study of households, firms and market) and macroeconomics (the study of growth, unemployment and inflation). This course allows students to complement a professional accounting qualification with the study of economic theory and practice. The accounting qualification covers various career-specific areas, including accounting, auditing, finance, business law and taxation. Students also study core areas of economics, and its application to particular areas and policy issues.

In the first year of studies, students take four foundation business subjects that may include: management, marketing, human resource management, accounting, finance, statistics, data management, economics and graduate capabilities such as writing, speaking, inquiry and research skills.

In addition, students who are new to the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law will have an academic writing skills assessment. Successful students can enrol in an elective or their chosen discipline-based subject.
However students who fail the assessment will need to complete an academic literacy subject to help them succeed in their course. Other first-year subjects may be either electives or discipline-based subjects in the student's chosen field.
