Chemistry

Why study Chemistry?

Our coursework programs provide generalised advanced studies in chemistry as well as specialisation. The Masters program offers chemistry graduates additional or advanced training in areas such as analytical chemistry, computational chemistry, medicinal chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry and instrumental methods.

See the Research tab for information about Master's by research, or PhD.

Career opportunities

Graduates of our Masters program are prepared for careers in the chemical industry in such areas as petroleum, biotechnology, chemical analysis and fine chemicals. Postgraduate diploma graduates have improved career prospects in government and business locally and abroad.

La Trobe University’s chemistry program is fully accredited with the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI), and all graduates are eligible for membership.
